The most interesting technology in this area are biotrickling filters because of their simplicity of operation, high efficiency and low full life cycle costs.
Biotrickling filters combine low costs of operation and maintenance (typical for biological systems) along with treatment of higher concentrations of pollutants in comparison to traditional biofilters.
Air Clean is an exclusive distributor of MónaShell® biotrickling technology. This technology is based on the utilisation of naturally occurring recovered seashell for use as an attached growth biotrickling media. This offers enhanced performance and reduced water consumption due to the calcium carbonate in the shell material that neutralizes acids and maintains the pH in the optimum range for biological treatment. The biological oxidation of in-organic odorous compounds such as H2S and mercaptan produces acid that can lower pH and impact negatively on system performance.
Realization of totally closed systems with final dispersion through an exhaust stack is one more advantages of this process.

Biogas purification by using chemical scrubbers and catalysts for hydrogen sulfide removal
The production of biogas from liquid waste or industrial is becoming increasingly important. However, Biogas may contain hydrogen sulfide impurities which must be removed before it can be used to produce electricity or even to be converted into biomethane.
Air Clean exclusively distributes a system patented by Bord Na Mona made up of special auto tyre CrumRubber TM which in combination with sulphur reducing bacteria is able to remove hydrogen sulphide and a high percentage of volatile organic siloxanes.
Additional technologies include chemical reduction systems using activated carbon.
