Air Clean’s carbon based abatement technology can be utilized for the treatment of air streams contaminated with low or infrequent concentrations of odorous .
(H2S, mercaptans, NH3, etc.) or volatile organic compounds (VOC). As part of a combination of technologies to consistently achieve high odour abatement guarantees for both municipal and industrial applications.
The base carbon, produced from coconut husks, wood or coal, is activated by subjecting it to a thermal process in order to optimize its available pore structure
resulting in an improvement in its adsorptive capacity for odour/VOC. The high surface area of the carbon material (≥ 1.000 m2/g) allows for short contact times of between 1 ÷ 5 seconds with high removal efficiencies. With such a short retention time, the AirSorb system has a small footprint with ease operation. For those applications where it is essential to minimize the frequency of carbon replacement, Air Clean is able to provide catalytic regenerable carbon as well. This media is able to oxidize hydrogen sulphide into sulphuric acid, which easily can be stored in the pores of the activated carbon. After a simple water washing the carbon can be reused again for another adsorption cycle. Optimum plant arrangement (radial, multi layers vertical, single layer horizontal) is selected depending on the specific application.
